The City of Paterson is currently hiring for:

* PRINCIPAL BUYER:
- Under direction, supervises and performs technical work involved in preparing proposals, orders, and reports, arranges for the purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies used by various departments
- May also supervise and perform the work involved in term contracts
- Knowledge of budget procedures, shipping & transportation details, and record keeping procedures
- Communicate and negotiate with vendors
- Related work as required
- Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in large scale purchase of commodities, materials, equipment, and/or supplies OR possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Salary Range: $51,000 - $55,000k

* PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST:
Responsible for ensuring the company has the right materials and equipment necessary to function. The job description of the procurement specialist will involve keeping track of product performance and needs, meeting with salespersons, managing vendor contracts and negotiating contracts. Procurements specialists are responsible for evaluating suppliers in order to find the best deals possible on goods and services that are needed for business operations.

Education Requirements include:
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or two years of experience in buying, receiving, and inventory control
- Experience with maintenance parts

Labor requirements:
- 3-5 years’ experience working in a purchasing environment
- Government purchasing is desirable

Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000
